Free Meals for Young Students

Students in Bexar County have multiple places to visit for free meals this summer.

Almost every school district in the county is offering summer meals to students at no cost from early June through August.

Additionally, IDEA Public Schools’ Child Nutrition Program announced that it will be serving free meals to children in the community aged 18 years or younger from June 3 to July 26. The offering is made possible through the Nation School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program, and children do not need to be students at IDEA to receive a meal.

The City of San Antonio’s Summer Food Service Program will also offer free meals to children under 18 this summer. This program provides children and teens ages 18 and younger and enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old a healthy meal throughout the summer at no cost, just by showing up at a participating meal site.

Call 211 or text FOODTX to 877-877 to find a nearby site, or visit SummerFood.org. No form of identification is required; kids simply show up. The Summer Food Service Program is administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture and funded by USDA. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
