Avista Products: Best Source for Community Information

Exciting things are happening within the Avista Products studio. This year promises to be more productive than 2023 because of the outstanding team that owner Carl Booker has gathered. His goal is to increase the communication of pertinent information within those walls and out to the community. In May 2022, Carl determined that the community needed a high-quality weekly newspaper and, along with his staff, launched Black Life Texas. Within the pages of that newspaper, some of the most gifted writers in this city have covered contemporary events nationally and internationally. Carl is a strong believer that information creates knowledge and that knowledge generates power. Each week’s publication adds to the community's power and provides the people with a voice. As the 2024 presidential election heats up, Black Life Texas will be a source to which the community can analyze the races and how each candidate is evaluated from a Black perspective. Another source of information produced at Avista Products is the weekly broadcast of Contemporary Black Voices (CBV). It has existed for a year and is streamed on the Black Video Network. CBV consists of four knowledgeable panelists who discuss key issues affecting the Black community at any particular time. The broadcast goes live at 1 p.m. every Saturday with a segment titled “Hot Topics.” The discussions are intellectually stimulating with some of the city’s outstanding Black leaders. The panelists take on the tough issues in search of reasonable solutions. Carl will be the first one to admit that …

Exciting things are happening within the Avista Products studio. This year promises to be more productive than 2023 because of the outstanding team that owner Carl Booker has gathered. Carl will be the first one to admit that what he is doing for the community takes work. But he also believes, according to a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “Faith is taking the next step, even though you do not know what that next step might be.” He believes that what he is doing is necessary because of the gift God has given him, and when much is given, much is required. He is providing the community with very valuable services, and they are free of charge.

The newspaper is free and tuning into Contemporary Black Voices is also free. Even though sometimes it is a real financial struggle to produce all this valuable information, he will never give up. What he is doing is much too important and must be accomplished. Carl Booker and Avista Products are the right combination to give the community what is needed, especially as we move into one of the most important presidential elections in the history of this country.
